In Reading Class:
Have students complete reading response journals in a shared google doc. Students can then read for recommendations and reviews for reading. In Social Studies Class
Have students research information on the internet for a biography. Students can use information gathered to write a biography using Google Docs. Students share with teacher. |
As we begin to implement technology in classroom learning experiences, we want to ensure we are giving students authentic learning opportunities to promote their creativity, critical thinking, collaboration and communication. When planning these activities, teachers should consider which level, according to SAMR, their activity applies to. Teachers should also consider their audience, content and intent and plan appropriately.

In Writing Class:
Have students create writing portfolios in drive to house their writing pieces as they go through the writing process. They may revise and make changes after sharing with the teacher. They can receive and give real time feedback with teacher and peers on writing projects created in google docs. In Science Class
Students can post or answer scientific inquiry questions to a discussion community on Google Classroom to connect with other students in the same grade in different schools. Students can then research, test and report results of the question after testing in a shared slide show created in Slides. |

Here's what others have to say:
As a teacher, I find Google Apps for School a collection of very useful tools. It is a complete education suite that includes Gmail, Google Calendar, Google Talks, Google Docs, Google Sites and Google Video for Communication. The personalized mail service can help build the school reputation. Calendar can be used by teachers to mark the various annual events and even their personal schedule. Google Docs is a great way to share documents with colleagues. Google Talk can be used by students to communicate with others while working on the same project. This entire collection of apps is offered for free by Google. As an online and school teacher, I would recommend Google Apps for School, not only to schools but also to all education service providers.

Google Apps for Schools is a useful tool for teachers and schools. The email (Gmail) is personalized to your own school name so that when you send an email you are carrying the school company seal. There is also Google Docs where it is easy to share documents / spreadsheets only to users you want to be able to view them. You can also lock these spreadsheets so that others can only view them and not make any edits. The only problem I had with Google Docs is sometimes data is lost over time, so remember to save your data frequently on your desktop especially if it's important and hard to recover data.
